Bad weather Elias is in progress, which started yesterday, Monday, its invasion of our country, causing problems in Trikala and Achaia, and the phenomena are expected to intensify in the next few hours.

According to the prognostic data of meteo.gr/EAA, in places and at times strong phenomena are expected for the rest of the day in the Ionian, Western and Central Mainland, Peloponnese and secondarily in Thessaly and Epirus. The phenomena in some areas will be accompanied by hailmainly in Western Greece and the Central Ionian Islands.

The areas that will be most affected by the end of Tuesday 26/09, receiving the highest amounts of rain, they are located in the prefectures of Kefallinia, Lefkada, Aitoloakarnania, Evrytania, Fokida, Fthiotida, Ilia, Achaia, Corinthia and from the late afternoon Karditsa and Trikala.

tomorrow wednesday the phenomena will show further reinforcement, affecting more the central, eastern, and southern parts of the country. The strongest phenomena are expected in Eastern and Southern Thessaly, Evia, Sporades, Central and Eastern Sterea and especially in the Peloponnese – especially Central and Northern – which seems to receive the largest amounts of rain. The regions that will be affected include the prefecture of Attica and the city of Athens. Rains and storms will also occur in several island parts of the Aegean and in Crete, with strong effects in the prefecture of Chania.

According to the classification of the rainfall episode (RPI), which is applied by the Meteo unit of the National Observatory of Athens, the rainfall episode on Tuesday 26/09 is classified as Category 3 (Important), while on Wednesday 27/09 it will be upgraded to Category 4 (Very important).
