The purchase of four heavy-duty helicopters was approved by the Ministry of Finance to cover and operationally deal with the modern increased needs of the Fire Brigade.

It was issued today 28/09/2023 by the Special Secretariat for the Management of ERDF and TC Programs, the Inclusion of the Act “Supply of heavy-duty helicopters”, in the Program of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance “Political Protection 2021-2027” with the beneficiary being the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.
This important act of a total public expenditure of €100,563,181.87 concerns the supply of four (4) heavy-duty helicopters, as well as the supporting services and equipment required for their operation.
Heavy-duty helicopters can have a dual use, as they can be used and contribute to the reinforcement of the Fire Brigade’s firefighting missions, with the possibility of using an extinguishing agent (water, retarder, foam) or to the reinforcement of external cargo transport missions (eg equipment, vehicles, containers, etc.).
This supply is going to contribute to the upgrading of the country’s air fleet, aiming to cover and operationally deal with the modern increased needs of the Fire Brigade, achieving better readiness, response and adequacy in general of the Civil Protection Mechanism.
