To date they have been allocated 98,241 appointments by 30.11.2023, of which approximately 60,000 (61%) have been bookedwhile approximately 38,000 available appointments remain for use by citizens.
It has already been observed that in urban areas (Attica – Thessaloniki), as well as in T.A. of the capitals of the Prefectures, the available appointments have almost been exhausted. Following this, from tomorrow EL.AS. in collaboration with GIS will start making appointments for the month of December this year as well, i.e. still 49,335 appointments.
It is reminded that EL.AS., at the same time, serves a corresponding number of emergency appointments for special reasons (loss or theft) as well as vulnerable citizens or citizens with the inability to move through the 60 mobile stairs.
In the next few days, EL.AS will double the available appointments for the months of October and November, due to the increased demand of citizens. A further update will follow for this increase.
The process is under continuous monitoring with the aim of being able to serve as many of our fellow citizens as possible. The availability of appointments and service positions throughout the Territory will vary accordingly.
How to book an appointment
Enter the id.gov.gr platform. In this way, citizens have the possibility to digitally schedule their appointments for the issue new type of identities or their replacement due to changes in data, expiration, deterioration or obsolescence in accordance with what is defined in the joint ministerial decision (Government Gazette: B’5619) of the Ministers of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and Citizen Protection Yiannis Oikonomos.
Step by step the process
In his application, the interested party selects an Issuing Authority based on his address of permanent or temporary residence in Greece, a specific day and time from the availability list, so that he can be served in person, and registers the following details of the person to whom the appointment concerns: name, email address and optionally phone number. It is possible for a third party to book the appointment, however the citizen must be present in person to be served.
* Upon completion of the submission of the request, an email is sent to verify the email provided by the interested party. Subsequently, he receives in the confirmed email the basic information for handling the procedure, as well as the contact details of the Issuing Authority he has chosen.
* The appointment scheduling request can be rescheduled or canceled or resubmitted no later than eight (8) hours in advance. Twenty-four (24) hours before and two (2) hours before the start of the scheduled appointment, the interested party receives a reminder message from the platform to the email they have registered.
It is clarified that a time gap is kept between the appointments of the interested parties for the same Identity Card Issuing Authority, sufficient to complete one appointment before starting the next one. The times and days of available appointments may vary, taking into account restrictions on the Issuing Authority’s hours and availability, by time and by job.
It is worth noting that especially in the case of loss or theft of the police identity card, the citizen should contact the competent Issuing Authority, based on the address of his permanent or temporary residence in Greece, and request the scheduling of an appointment for the issuance of a new card.
