Astute pretending accountants who mediate in order to complete the market pass process more quickly find unsuspecting citizens and they “pick up” the bills.

Already, a 78-year-old man fell into their “nets”. from Patras, and a 39-year-old woman from Evia.

In Patras, the fraudster called the elderly man, and after introducing himself as his accountant’s assistant, convinced him that he needed his personal information in order to credit his account with the amount of 450 euros from the market pass. The old man gave them and a little later they “made wings” from his 7,500 euro account.

In Evia, the perpetrator pretended to be the 39-year-old’s accountant’s son and asked her for the bank codes so that the amount of the allowance could be credited to her. The woman made the mistake of giving it to them, and the next day when she went to check if the money came in, she found that 2,260 euros were missing from her account.

ELAS recommends to citizens be especially careful and not to disclose personal information and bank codes to anyone.
