The digital real estate transfer file was mentioned by the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakin his radio interview to Real Fm saying that “the digital real estate transfer file will start operating as a pilot from November and from the beginning of the year every citizen who has a land-registered property will be able to digitally transfer his property. We are currently in direct collaboration with notaries so that the reform of the digital contract can proceed, that is, a new application that will ensure that the contents of a contract will be interoperable with all government agencies without the need for the citizen to go anywhere else and to collect and file documents”.

Mr. Kyranakis spoke about “more than 150,000 pending transfers of contracts and other deeds, which are expected to be added to the pending cases of the mortgage offices which from 1-1-2024 by law come under our jurisdiction. In order to reduce them to zero (s.s.: the backlogs) we enlist private lawyers in cooperation with the bar associations. I have recommended to the board of directors of the Land Registry to increase the price for the legal audit per deed that the lawyers do so that a transfer is signed. It will double the price from 8 euros to 15 euros, so it is expected that backlogs will start to decrease a lot. Lawyers will be evaluated based on statistics which will be generated by the mistakes they make, the omissions and the good ones will be upgraded and those who do not engage or make a lot of mistakes will leave the system.
