“It was a spur-of-the-moment reaction,” the 65-year-old apologized to the court
He bit a police officer on the arm when he went to her “hang up” call for illegal parking. The incident happened at noon last Tuesday in Nea Kallikrateia, Halkidiki, while the 65-year-old “protagonist” of the episode was sentenced by the Autonomous Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki to a total prison sentence of 11 months, with a 3-year suspension, for bodily harm and violence against employees (resistance).
“It was a spur-of-the-moment reaction” the 65-year-old apologized to the court, accepting the bite. As she reported, she tried to park her car normally to do some work. “Then I heard a horn, it was two policemen […] I tried to leave but unnecessarily one of the policemen grabbed my arm and went to get the keys” she apologized, describing her own perspective on the incident.
Previously, the police officer, who holds the rank of constable, testified that the woman was blocking the road and despite recommendations to her refused to leave. “When we announced to her that we would confirm a traffic violation, she started the car engine and tried to leave. I was next to her and she started punching me. I tried to protect myself and then he bit the finger of the left hand”, noted the policeman and added that after the incident he went to the Health Center of the area, while he took, as he said, two preventive vaccines.
