Three Bulgarians were arrested for involvement in telephone scams with elderly victims and pretext the injury of their relatives in alleged traffic accidents and the need to submit them to alleged expensive surgeries.

Overall the police authorities they solved four cases of fraud completed and three attempted, which were reported in the previous 24 hours in the cities of Serres, Kilkis and Alexandroupoli.

Those arrested are involved in two separate cases, while they had the role of collecting money and jewelry from their potential victims. One is a 51-year-old man and his 45-year-old accomplice, and the other is a 37-year-old man.

More specifically, the first two were arrested in Kilkis and found in their possession 16 golden pounds, worth more than 7000 euros, which were earlier extracted from an elderly woman. As the sufferer complained, she had placed the pounds in a bag which she threw from the balcony of her house, handing it over to the 51-year-old.

The same duo, as emerged from the police investigation, had previously tried to take money from three other women in the same area, while intheir assets seem to include another fraud, in Serres, with stolen jewelry and money, worth 1000 euros.

As for the 37-year-old, according to what the Police announced, he was arrested in Serres, from where took 17,000 euros from an old man, amount found in his possession. He had earlier extorted the sum of 7,000 euros from an elderly woman in Alexandroupoli.

The police investigations continue both for the identification of their accomplices, as well as for their possible participation in other similar criminal acts. Those arrested will be taken to the competent prosecutors for criminal prosecution.
