The Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces arrested a hospital employee and a funeral parlor owner for bribery and bribery

According to the police, on October 10 and following a complaint, they were arrested by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, in an island region, a General Hospital employee and a private individual, for – as the case may be – bribery and bribery of an employee, violation of official confidentiality, breach of duty and moral complicity in violation of official confidentiality, while the relevant case file includes another employee of the hospital.
A previous complaintaccording to which the two employees of the Hospital, taking advantage of their status as pallbearers, informed the private person, the owner of a funeral parlor, about which patients were going to die, due to the seriousness of their health condition and they were making money.
The above was brought to the attention of the supervising prosecuting authority and a preliminary examination was ordered.
In this context, it was determined that the two employees at least from the end of August 2023, having gained access to the electronic file of the hospital’s doctorswere systematically leaking confidential medical and personal data to the owner of the funeral home, who assessedby changing these elements, he assumed them funeral services, thereby obtaining a financial benefit.
Their action was terminated yesterday morning, when a police operation was organized, during which they were arrested in the context of the autoforo, the employee and the private individuals, after a new incident of violation of official confidentiality that took place the previous day (09-10-2023).
From the searches in homes and business premises, a total of 18,240 euros in cash, 3 mobile phone devices, as well as documents and handwritten notes were found and confiscated.
So far, 74 cases of breach of official confidentiality have been identifiedof which 54 concerned patients who died, while for 26 of them the burial procedure was undertaken by the private funeral home.
The arrested, with the case filed against them, were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
