Space Hellas and the Athens University of Economics and Business (OPA), recognizing the need to connect applied research with the real market, have entered into a collaboration for the preparation of an industrial PhD, according to a relevant announcement.

Specifically, Space Hellas supports the scientific research of Ilias Balabanis, Junior Data Engineer of the R&D department, who is preparing an industrial doctorate through the cooperation of the company and OPA, in the Department of Administrative Science and Technology (DET), supervised by Professor Diomidis Spinellis.

The subject of the PhD on: “Cybersecurity Applications using Artificial Intelligence” is part of an internationally critical technological field and the know-how acquired will be integrated into innovative new services and products, as developed by the company’s research and development department.

Spyros D. Manolopoulos, executive chairman of the Space Hellas Group, said in this regard: “Space Hellas uses the institution of the industrial doctorate to build bridges between the Greek academic community and the Greek business with the aim of innovation and the development of the country’s competitiveness in international markets”.

The vice-chancellor for research and lifelong learning of the Athens University of Economics and Business, Professor Georgios Lekakos said: “The Athens University of Economics and Business actively supports the collaboration between the institution’s research potential and Greek businesses, as in this way the applied research produced at OPA creates value both for researchers funded by the private sector and for businesses, which increase their competitiveness at an international level with the final beneficiaries being the national economy and society”.
