An improvised explosive device with explosive material wrapped in tape and a slow-burning fuse, as well as petrol canisters were found, among other things, in the possession of a 23-year-old man, who was arrested this morning at the Nestani tollbooth in Arcadia.

In particular, according to the police, during an inspection carried out by OPKE police officers at car driven by the 23-year-old, were found, apart from the explosive device and the petrol canisters, one fake motorcycle license plate, two empty plastic jerry cans, as well as burglary tools.

During his arrest, the 23-year-old he resistedpushing and hitting the police officers, in order to avoid his arrest and escape, but without succeeding.

In addition, according to the police, as emerged from the investigations of the Tripoli Security Department, in collaboration with the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes against Life and Property, the 23-year-old, together with a 26-year-old citizen of Georgia, had committed from October 14 to 17 two thefts of bicycles of motorcycles in Athens.

In a search that followed at the 23-year-old’s house in Athens, by police officers of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes Against Life and Property, three mobile phones, a laptop and a data storage device were found.

A case file was filed against the arrested person, who is going to be taken to the prosecutor, for the manufacture and possession of explosives, violence against employees, forgery and distinguished cases of theft, while the police officers of the Tripoli Security Department are continuing the investigations into the case.
