In recent days there are fewer police officers on duty and as a result the machines are out of order since there is no police officer to do the check as required by the security rules
The problems and the great suffering of the passengers at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport continue as since yesterday, Thursday, several of the automatic European passport control machines in the arrivals area are out of order, resulting in queues and long delays for travelers.
Complaints from passengers to SKAI point out that the delay for checking passports even reaches one hour. At the automatic machines, according to security regulations, a police officer must be present during passport control. According to the report, there are usually four officers on shift, three of whom do manual screening and one is at the machines for self-checking passengers.
However, in recent days the shift has been reduced, resulting in the machines going out of operation since there is no police officer to do the check. Thus, the control is only carried out manually with reduced staff, making the process particularly time-consuming.
The airport points out that the number of police officers on duty plays a key role in order to avoid delays.
