The works are also in progress in other sports areas in all the municipal communities of Athens. The projects are implemented by the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA) and are financed by the Region of Attica.
The Regional Governor of Attica G. Patoulis pointed out:
“In collaboration with OPANDA, very important projects are being carried out to upgrade and modernize sports venues belonging to the Organization, which for many years were left to their own devices.
We are already handing over nine basketball courts for citizens to use, in six open sports areas of the Municipality of Athens, in order for sportsmen to enjoy them.
From the beginning of our tenure, we prioritized infrastructure that would contribute to our children playing sports safely in a modern and welcoming environment. In this context, we responded positively to OPANDA’s request as our will was to invest in infrastructures that give incentives to the new generation to play sports and be introduced to the goods of good life”.
