“Yesterday I was crying all day, today I’m smiling. This woman has a piece of my Emmanuella,” said the mother of the deceased 21-year-old
Touching moments unfolded outside the Thessaloniki Courthouse, when Emmanuela’s mother met with a recipient who received her 21-year-old daughter’s kidney.
“Thank you very much. I do not know what to say. I’m very excited”, said Maroula Horafa, a 52-year-old woman who underwent dialysis for 10 years, until the day she received Emmanuela’s kidney. The mother of the student, Kelly Kampaki, visibly moved, stated that “this woman has a piece of my Emmanuella.”
“Yesterday I was crying all day, today I’m smiling. This woman has a piece of my Emmanuella. And the most important thing is that he is fine. When we made the decision to donate organs we knew nothing. We didn’t know what it meant or how we would feel,” said Emmanuela’s mother and underlined the 21-year-old’s wish: “It was what our child had told us, her wish came true. But now in retrospect we see that it is a very big move.”
Yes, as he noted Kelly Kampaki, the 21-year-old’s family has also contacted the other people who received their child’s organs.
It is noted that today continues – after yesterday’s interruption – the trial for the death of Emmanuela.
