1940: After the failure of the Italian offensive on the Albanian Front, Adolf Hitler orders his General Staff to plan and prepare an attack on Greece.

1942: The first dead firefighter in Greece. The cadet firefighter 2nd class, Konstantinos Poulios, is killed while trying to extinguish a fire in a two-story building in Thessaloniki. November 12 has been established in our country as the Day of Remembrance of Fallen Firefighters.

1990: The English scientist Timothy Berners-Lee (TBL to his friends) invents the World Wide Web, better known by the initials WWW, on which the operation of the Internet is based.

1998: PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who arrived in the Italian capital from Moscow on a Russian Airlines flight, is arrested at Fiumicino Airport in Rome. Police have not announced where the arrested Kurdish leader is being held, while Turkey is rushing to formally request his extradition from Italian authorities, calling his arrest a turning point in the crackdown on the Kurdish separatist movement.
