Taxi drivers apply the handbrake, wanting in this way to protest the government’s new tax bill. Thus, the taxis will carry out a work stop on Thursday November 16 and a 24-hour strike on November 22.

In its announcement, the Taxi Drivers Union of Attica (SATA) points out that “the government defiantly ignored all the arguments of freelancers and the self-employed and proceeded with the implementation of the Pisarides plan, turning a blind eye to multinational companies and large business groups».

It characterizes the draft law “timeline of a foretold death for every small and medium business“, adding that “this government is programmed to employ all freelancers and self-employed people».

The announcement in detail:

The draft law of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, ΄΄Measures to limit tax evasion΄΄, was posted this morning on the website opengov.gr.

The government defiantly ignored all the arguments of freelancers and the self-employed and is proceeding with the implementation of the Pisarides plan, turning a blind eye to multinational companies and large business groups.

This bill is the chronicle of a foretold death for every small and medium business. Unfortunately, once again the SATA board was vindicated. This government is programmed to employ all freelancers and self-employed people.

With horizontal measures they sack 750,000 workers, considering them as tax evaders. They have the audacity to brag about the 600 million that the state will gain from these measures. Who are they kidding?

SATA rejects every word of the tax bill of shame and calls taxi drivers to a fight with no tomorrow.

What are they telling us? That out of the 200 billion of the Greek GDP, tax evasion is in the order of 600 million and with this bill we are zeroing it out? SHAME.

The government believes that all freelancers and self-employed entrepreneurs are guaranteed success. Don’t call it business then, Mr. Hatzidakis, call it success…

Since damage to a sole proprietorship is prohibited why don’t you apply the same tactic to large corporations and Uber-type multinationals? Why do you provide them with tax immunity, Mr. Hatzidakis? Why are you allowing them to make profits in our country and not pay a single cent? The answer is simple. Because these are the partners of the government and not the Greek people.

SATA rejects every word of the disgraceful bill and calls all taxi drivers to a fight without tomorrow. At the meeting of the board of directors on Monday, November 13, the following were decided by majority:

– • We start with a work stoppage on Thursday, November 16 from 09.00 in the morning to 16.00 in the afternoon. There will be a protest march from Athens Avenue to the Ministry of Finance and then to the Ministry of Transport and a protest resolution will be filed. The pre-gathering was set for 09.30 in the morning, at the junction of Spyros Patsis and Athens Avenue.

– • Participation of taxis in the 24-hour strike that will be held by all freelancers and self-employed on November 22″.
