Let’s leave populism out of our insurance system, we have paid dearly for it in the past, wrote the Labor Minister
The law that linked the retirement age limits to life expectancy and that also describes the recalculation mechanism every three years is a law of the government of George Papandreou, notes the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Adonis Georgiadis, in a post on his personal social media account .
In fact, as he emphasizes, there is no question of increasing the retirement age.
Specifically, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Adonis Georgiadis, points out the following:
“On Sunday, in a televised interview, the Deputy Minister of Labour, Mr. Tsakloglou, when asked if an increase in the retirement limit is foreseen, due to an increase in life expectancy, said that there is no such question now, as there is no such increase, but this will be reviewed with the new data in 2027…basically he mentioned the provisions of the law to link the retirement limit with life expectancy, after 65 years.
PASOK made a harsh announcement against these statements, talking about “hidden anti-social agenda of the government etc”, except that PASOK probably has a weak memory. The law that linked the age limits to life expectancy and that also describes the mechanism of recalculation every three years is article 11, par. 3 of law 3863/2010, i.e. a law of the Minister of Labour, Andreas Loverdos, of the government of George Papandreou, with responsible deputy minister at the time for insurance reform, Mr. Giorgos Koutroumanis, of the last PASOK government.
Now, how is it possible that PASOK today accuses Mr. Tsakloglou, because he publicly repeated what the PASOK law provides and that this is also “the hidden anti-social agenda of the ND” what can I tell you, it is beyond me anyway.
PASOK fought a great battle and paid a great price for Greece to stay in the euro and I will say it – once again – it is a shame that it is trying to look like the early anti-memorandum SYRIZA, at the time, in fact, that it disappeared.
In essence, there is no question of adjusting age limits today and until 2027. Then, the relevant ministers will decide how and if the relevant provision will be implemented, if the relevant conditions are then met, etc.
Let’s leave populism out of our insurance system, we paid dearly for it in the past.”
