A 19-year-old man from Larissa, who was arrested for attempted theft from a supermarket, was found guilty yesterday by the Single-Member Automatic Criminal Court of Larissa with a 9-month prison sentence, while the investigation by the Larissa Security Sub-Directorate revealed that he had committed 9 more thefts from two supermarkets.

As noted by EL.AS., yesterday at noon the 19-year-old “attempted to remove a hair care product, by opening the package, from a supermarket in the city, without, however, completing his act, as he was noticed.

As was further ascertained, during the time period from 21-08-2023 to 14-11-2023 in Larissa, the perpetrator committed 9 more thefts from the same and another supermarket in the city, removing various products (beauty products, alcoholic beverages, etc. etc.)”.

The 19 year old – according to information from the newspaper “Eleftherias”– seems to have had a… weakness for face creams and hair oils, while rarely stealing alcoholic beverages or foodstuffs.

On November 3 alone, according to the police investigation, he went once in the morning and again in the afternoon to the same supermarket, from which he removed a total of four face creams of one brand, four face creams of another brand and 29 hair oils.

As, among other things, representatives of the supermarkets testified yesterday, in some of the cases, the 19-year-old removed the products from the packaging, left them on other shelves and placed more expensive products in the packaging.

The Single-member Court automatically found him guilty of the offenses of attempted theft, theft and damage to foreign property and imposed a total suspended prison sentence of 9 months.
