Landslide in Neo Voutza: “We fight with time”, says the mayor of Rafina

by

The situation with the houses that have collapsed in Neos Voutzas remains critical, an issue highlighted by SKAI. Today, Sunday, the mayor of Rafina-Pikermi, Evangelos Bournous, and the professor and president of OASP, Efthymis Lekkas, went to the spot for a new autopsy. “This is a geological phenomenon that is in progress and extends for about 400 meters”, Mr. Bournous stated immediately after, in the APE-MPE and continued:

“There are actually four reasons for this. The stream below with the humidity in the underground soils, immediately after the fire of 2018 and the heavy rains that followed that winter, the study of the engineer and the constructions that have been done in this house, which has suffered a lot of subsidence. “Now he has gone three meters down and is pushing the one next door.”

And the mayor of Rafina added: “We now want to save the other houses. Relief work must be done, because time is running out. We fight with time “.

A total of seven houses are at risk, the plot has taken a slope and the one that has sunk more drags the other. The families who received the relevant notice have already left their homes, while the water supply and electricity supply has stopped and as Mr. Bournous mentioned, there is intense concern with the landslides, in case the weather worsens and there are new rainfall or snowfall.

The municipality of Rafina-Pikermi and its Technical Service have launched the procedures for the implementation of studies and immediate interventions to decongest the phenomenon. Especially the repair of Karyotaki Street, has been included in 2020 by the Municipal Authority, in the project of restoration of infrastructure of the fire-affected areas of the Municipal Community of Rafina.
