The 45-year-old man who killed 22-year-old Kostas in June 2022 in the village of Argoulio in the municipality of Mylopotamos was found guilty by the Mixed Jury Court.

He was sentenced to life in prison for manslaughter, without parole, while he was also sentenced to two plus one year for possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon. At the same time, a fine of 2000 euros is imposed on him.

It is worth noting that upon hearing the decision, relatives of the unfortunate Kostas “attacked” the defendant verbally, but the episode did not escalate.

Earlier the prosecutor suggested his guilt and even asked that the allegation of soul boiling be dismissed. As he pointed out, the daily routine of the two families was to curse and “provoke” each other. If everyone killed because they cursed their family then half of Greece would have disappeared.

What did he say in his apology?

The defendant claimed that he had no intention of killing the 22-year-old, but the abusive behavior of the victim towards his parents and his family clouded his mind. He apologized and claimed he just wanted to bully the victim.

The timeline of the crime

On June 12, 2022, a 44-year-old man shoots and kills 22-year-old Kostas in the village of Argoulio in the municipality of Mylopotamos.

According to information from cretapost, the two men seem to have had several differences and had clashed in the past. However, on June 12 the two men met on a village road and had a heated argument. After the argument both of them left in different directions.

The 22-year-old went to his sister’s house and then the 44-year-old appeared in his car and, pulling out a gun, shot him several times. In fact, four bullets found him in the back and the 22-year-old fell dead. The next day the 44-year-old surrendered to the authorities and was subsequently remanded in custody.
