Wild boars made their appearance in the last few hours in Agios Ioannis Kalamarias and in the Harilaou area, in Thessaloniki, looking for food in the cold.

Two wild boars were spotted this morning on Papatsehilidis street in Kalamaria, with the mayor Yiannis Dardamanelis stating that he contacted the forest office “as the specific animals belong to the wild fauna and we certainly cannot remain simple observers. It is the second time that wild boars make their appearance in our area. Two years ago we found one in the former Kodra camp and two last year in Agios Panteleimonas”.

The forest office assured the municipality of Kalamaria that it would send a team to locate them, while until then it advised to collect the food that is in the bins for the stray animals, as well as the garbage, given that the wild boars have a strong sense of smell and are looking for food, but also not to be approached by citizens.

Also, shortly after midnight, residents of the Charilaou area, at the junction of Anaximandros and Pelopidou streets, spotted a herd of five to six wild boars moving in the area looking for food.
