Shortly after midnight, the competent services of the Fire Brigade completed the operation to transport the of three climbers found dead in Helmosnear the ski center of Kalavrita.
Their bodies were transported to the University General Hospital of Patras.
The exact causes of death of the three climbers will be determined by the forensic examination.
As the first data show the unlucky men, were trying to find ice to climb, outside the limits of the ski resort, to an extremely dangerous spot. There was an avalanche that took their lives.
The operation was attended by 23 firefighters with nine (9) vehicles, from the Ministry of Defense. Kalavrita and the P.K. Akratas, the O.O.E.D. of the 6th EMAK with a special tracked vehicle, S.M.E.A. and an E / P of the Fire Brigade.
Assistance was provided by 12 members of the Hellenic Rescue Team (ESA), eight (8) volunteers as mountain guides and climbers, two (2) E / P of the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Ε.Κ.Σ.Ε.Δ. ), forces of EL.AS., as well as ambulances of E.K.A.B.
