Upset by the blaring music and loud noises, the neighbors called the police, who arrested him
A 65-year-old man in Volos was sentenced to 13 months in prison and a fine of 600 eurosfor an incident he had caused at his house in June 2023, where he had put music on the pipe during a quiet time, while after a complaint from the neighbors he fired two shots into the air.
The incident happened on 15/6/23 at 4pm, when the accused went out on the balcony of his house and played music at high volume. Disturbed neighbors reported the incident to security, with officers arriving to find the 65-year-old shooting twice in the air with a hunting rifle.
The police authorities proceeded to arrest the 65-year-old, while after checking his home it was found that the firearms license for the carbine in question had expired, while a second shotgun, a single barrel, also with a non-renewed license, and hunting cartridges were found.
At the expense of the 65-year-old had been prosecuted for disturbing the peace, wanton shooting, illegal possession of hunting weapons and illegal possession of hunting cartridges, while at the trial of the case at the Single-member Misdemeanor Court of Volos, he apologized and asked for forgiveness for his actions.
However, he did not convince the court, which found him guilty as charged without mitigating factors, imposing a 13-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 600 euros.
According to the court’s decision, the weapons, which had been confiscated by the authorities, were not returned to him, while the 65-year-old appealed.
