The feast of Saint Andrew, Patron Saint of Patras is approaching and the city is preparing to celebrate one of the most important Saints of the Orthodox Church.

According to the program that has been announced, today Wednesday 29/11 at 18.00 the solemn, multi-priestly vespers will be celebrated with an artoklasa in the new holy church of Poliuchos, the most respected Metropolitan of Chalkidos, Istiaea and Northern Sporades will come forward and preach the Divine Word Ms. Chrysostom.

At 10 in the evening, the holy vigil and on the morning of Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 7 a.m. the Orthros will be chanted and then at 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. the solemn Divine Liturgy where the Holy Word will be preached by the archpriests, the venerable Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios etc. Ierotheos.

The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10.45 to 11 in the morning and immediately after it will begin, the litany of Saint Kara and the icon of Saint Andrew. The route of the litany will have a small modification this year as the procession reaches the height of Three Admirals where due to the works carried out there by the Municipality, the procession will not turn at Three Admirals as it usually does but will continue along Maizonos to Korai Street and will turn there to go down to Ag. Andrew and return to the temple.

The route at the beginning includes St. Andreou and turn to Dim. Gounari, at the corner of Gounari and Maizonos, a prayer will be sung as every year and the litany will continue its course along Maizonos Street.

A multitude of believers are expected not only from Patras and Achaia to come to worship Saint Andrew and light their candle and receive blessing and strength, but also visitors from many other parts of the country.
