The coordinating committee of Freelancers-Scientists-Professionals-Traders sent a letter to the Prime Minister requesting a meeting on the new tax
Letter to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent by the coordinating committee Free Professionals-Scientists-Professionals-Traders and on the one hand he requests a meeting in order to inform him “in detail about the problems created by the implementation of the promoted tax measures” and on the other hand he requests his intervention for “a fair tax system”.
In particular, the letter of the coordinating committee of Independent Professionals-Scientists-Professional Craftsmen-Traders, signed by 12 bodies, reads as follows:
“Dear Prime Minister,
The tax measures provided for in the draft law “Measures to limit tax evasion”, which has been put to a public electronic consultation, by introducing presumptive taxable income disproportionately affect the middle class, thousands of self-employed professionals, scientists and small and medium enterprises, who individually their activity.
It is worth noting, in fact, that the determination of the presumptive taxable income is made with completely arbitrary criteria, since the self-employed are identified with the employees, while it is known that these are different categories, as the Council of State has decided (No. Decree 1880, 1888/2019) and further, the determined presumptive taxable income is increased based on the income of third parties (average CIT), in violation of article 4 par. 5 of the Constitution, which provides for the contribution of each person to the public burdens according to his powers.
There can be no doubt that horizontal measures and taxation on unearned income create injustices. Just as unfair is the arbitrary characterization of freelancers as tax evaders.
It is obvious that the fight against tax evasion presupposes a substantial dialogue between all entities, with the aim of a fair tax system, which will take into account the real conditions of development of the Greek economy and the particularities of each profession and will be based on the contribution of each to the public weights according to his actual powers.
We have already duly submitted our proposals on these issues, which we want to make known to you.
After the end of the public consultation and before the passing of the draft law, we request a meeting with you to inform you in detail about the problems created by the implementation of the promoted measures and to institutionally request your intervention for a fair tax system”.
They sign, among other thingsthe president of the General Confederation of Professional Craft Merchants of Greece (GSEVEE) Giorgos Kavvathas, as well as the president of the Plenary of the Presidents of the Bar Associations of Greece Dimitris Vervesos.
