The Monument to the Immortals of the Nation, which was inaugurated on November 29 in the “Papagou” camp, will soon be open to citizens.
Specifically, as announced today by the General Staff of National Defense (GHS), the Monument to the Immortals where the names of 121,692 fallen in the Games of the Nation are listedvery soon it will become a place to visit for soldiers and civilians who do not serve in the “General Alexandros Papagos” Camp.
Besides, the GEETHA is oriented during working days to accept schools, colleges, etc., while during holidays and weekends it is open for other citizens who want to visit it.
Also, according to the announcement, it will be created a special area on the website of the National Archives with information exclusively about the Monument to the Immortals of the Nation. There will be the possibility of a three-dimensional (3D) tour through the website of GEETHA in order to get to know the Monument through interactive ways, such as the virtual tour. In the medium term, the preparation and printing of a small information brochure with the “identity” elements and the symbolism of the Monument will proceed, to be distributed to visitors. At the same time, the provision of a specialized tour with necessary information in Greek will continue, with the possibility of listening to the tour in other languages ​​via a smartphone application.
In addition, a podcast will be created for the Monument, which will be accessible to everyone through the website of the GHETHA, while later, after a spatial study of the surrounding area of ​​the Monument, the construction of a gift shop is being considered and, possibly, small canteen for water supply.
Finally, before the start of the public visits, visits to all the Military Production Schools in Greece have been planned and will take place.
