Today, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs attended the signing of the contract for the completion of the construction of the settlement of 80 workers’ homes in Kyrakali Grevena between the commander of the Public Employment Service (DYPA), Spyros Protopsaltis and a representative of the contracting company. Insurance, Adonis Georgiadis.
The “present” was given by the MP of Grevena, Yiannis Yatios, the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, Giorgos Kasapidis, the newly elected Regional Governor of Western Macedonia, Giorgos Amanatidis, the deputy director of DYPA, Gianna Hormova, deputy regional governors, mayors, local actors and a large number of people.
As stated in a related announcement, “with the signing of the contract, work begins on the completion of a long-suffering project, which has remained unfinished since 2009. The new administration of DYPA, in 2019, set as a priority the completion of pending matters from the former Organization Worker’s Residence (OEK). With the establishment of a study group and the issuance of the necessary permits, the auction of the project proceeded, so that, after several years of waiting, the beneficiaries will get the house they are entitled to.”
With the completion of the project, with a budget of 6,227,308 euros, the settlement will be handed over to the beneficiaries complete and functional, while, in parallel, with its construction, the verification of the supporting documents of the beneficiaries will begin, in order to finalize their beneficiaries.
The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Adonis Georgiadis, said: “I feel really happy that today I am attending the signing of the contract for the completion of the project of 80 workers’ housing in Kyrakali Grevena. This is a project that started in 2003, stopped in 2009 and, until 2019, no effort has been made to allow the work to continue. Thanks to the management of DYPA and its active commander, Spyros Protopsaltis, the completion of the project was prioritized and, thus, today, we are here. Soon, in parallel with its construction, the verification of the supporting documents of the lottery winners will begin, in order to finalize their beneficiaries. As I have said many times, we are in politics to be useful to our fellow citizens and to solve their problems.”
For his part, the commander of DYPA, Spyros Protopsaltis, noted: “The backlogs, which we inherited from the former OEK, will be closed, the suffering of the citizens, for which we apologize on behalf of the state, will come to an end and they will finally the home they deserve. We have stated this from the first moment we took over the administration of DYPA and, after the workers’ housing in Corfu and Elefsina, we are also moving towards the completion of the settlement in Kyrakali. Here in a short time, in this unfinished settlement there will be residences, which will be filled with life and smiles.”
