In the imposing scenery of Meteora, the unique “heavenly” manger dominates, perched inside a cave, above the town of Kalambaka.

This special manger harmonizes with the special geological phenomenon of Meteora and is consistent with the spirit of indulgence and spiritual bliss of the holy Heavenly State.

The rock is called “Ambaria” and “Eye of God” by the locals and is located behind the Museum of Digital Imaging. The city of Kalambaka keeps the tradition of mangers, as in the past it had also set up a special manger in the center of the square with life-size figures of people and animals.

This time, however, the idea was to make a performance in a cave of Meteora, in a visible way and with a unique result. In the huge cave that looks like an “eye of God”, figures of the Virgin Mary, Christ, magi, etc. were placed, while a huge star dominates it.

The location and its lighting, magnetize the interest of the visitor even more and it is a reference center for the area of Meteora. The original spectacle is completed by elaborate lighting which, during the night, makes it visible both from within the city and from many kilometers away.
