The new Hyundai Kona managed today to win the biggest Greek car award and to be named “Car of the Year for Greece 2024”.
At the final event of the now 17-year-old independent journalistic institution, which took place today at noon at the Megara circuit, in the presence of the President of the Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers (SEAA), Giorgos Vasilakis, the results of the voting of the journalists of the special press/members were announced of the institution. It was attended by executives of companies in the Greek car market, selected representatives of institutions and organizations, as well as car and motorcycle journalists.
The Hyundai Kona scored a total of 391 points, compared to the Jeep Avenger’s 326 and the MG4’s 305, which followed the Korean SUV on the podium. The first five were closed by MG ZS and Peugeot 408, with 252 and 249 points respectively. The final ranking is as follows:

It is recalled that members of the Association “Car of the Year for Greece” are 27 experienced journalists of the Greek special press. Each journalist had 100 points to award to the candidate models – which this year due to a tie there were 11 – giving a maximum score of 20 and a minimum of 5. The final score to determine the winner was formed gradually, during the event , as the votes of the 27 members were announced one by one, in alphabetical order.
Mr. Giorgos Vassilakis addressed the event, who pointed out, among other things, the need to renew the car fleet in Greece, and Nikos Tsadaris, President of the Panhellenic Association of Automobile and Motorcycle Journalists (PASYDAM). For his part, the President of the “Association of Journalists for the Car of the Year for Greece”, Nikos Lupakis, underlined in his short speech the important role of the independent institution that comes to strengthen the car market in its own way, choosing every year a proposal that best suits the Greek consumer.
