The Ministry of Shipping has so far not issued any directive to Greek-owned ships or Greek-flagged ships operating in the maritime area of the Red Sea. Due to the situation created in the maritime area, the Maritime Directorate of the Coast Guard has issued recommendations to the ships of Greek interests, such as that the crews should be vigilant and carry out a night crossing of the specific maritime area by turning off the automatic identification system whenever possible.

In response to APE-MPE’s question to the responsible minister Christos Stylianidis if the Ministry of Shipping has issued any relevant directive on the issue of Greek-owned ships and ships with the Greek flag, he stated that Greece, like other countries, has not issued any specific directive since the shipping companies decide by themselves whether to make crossings from the point. He pointed out that there are already warships of countries in the area ensuring the passage for now.
