Unanimously guilty of manslaughter in a calm state of mind the second instance Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki also judged the defendant for the murder of the 59-year-old farmer Dimitris Graikos, in 2016.

The 50-year-old meat trader claimed that he did not intend the death of the victim which occurred after an argument between the two men.

In the first instance, in 2020, the Mixed Jury of Thessaloniki sentenced him to life imprisonment as he was found guilty of manslaughter in a calm state of mind.

With particular composure, for 2.5 years, the meat trader concealed the crime while appearing on television shows.

The accused was committed for trial because killed and buried 59-year-old Dimitris Graikos, 7 years ago.

From the first instance trial it emerged that the motive of the crime is due to financial difference that the two men had for buying and selling the animals as the 50-year-old apparently did not give any money to the unfortunate rancher after the animals were slaughtered on the fateful evening of November 3, 2016.

The breeder disappeared with his car when he last visited the slaughterhouse of Chalastra where he met the meat dealer. Since then, all traces of him have been lost. For months, his relatives have been trying to locate him for this reason as well they also addressed the TV show “Light in the Tunnel”.

With the assistance of scientists from the Applied Geophysics Laboratory of AUTH, following a tip-off from the Homicide Department of the Thessaloniki Police Department, an investigation was carried out at the defendant’s livestock unit, where the farm car and then the body of the victim were found buried.
