Marouka and Aris have been living in a shelter in Lesbos for the last few years
The touching story with the protagonists of two elderly donkeys is shared by Gaidourochora, the awareness and information center dedicated to the donkey. It is the story of Marouka and Aris, who in recent years have been living in a shelter on Lesvos, finding affection and care even in their old age.
“They always spent their days together and had become dear friends. Mars, older, fell at the beginning of December and unfortunately did not come back. Maruka was left alone. With her deep grief evident, she remained inactive and isolated from everyone for four days. And then she left too. She couldn’t bear to live without her boyfriend…” Gaidourochora writes in her post on her Facebook page.
“Their little story shocked us, that’s why we share it even if it brings tears to the eyes. Marouka and Aris have been living in the shelter of their friend Menga Conrad in Lesvos (Donkey Center- Lesvos) for the last few years. Two little donkeys who found affection and care even in their old age. They always spent their days together and had become dear friends. Mars, older, fell at the beginning of December and unfortunately did not come back. Maruka was left alone. With her deep grief evident, she remained inactive and isolated from everyone for four days. And then she left too. She couldn’t bear to live without her boyfriend…
This is how little donkeys are… And the more we know them, the smaller we feel and the more ignorant…» writes Gaidourochora.
