All 105 defendants are now out of prison for the bloody incidents outside the AEK stadium in New Philadelphia, last August, which led to the fatal injury of the AEK fan Michalis Katsouri.

The investigators of the case also accepted the last parole requests submitted by the last temporarily detained defendants, and thus both the 102 Croatian fans of Dinamo Zagreb and their three co-accused, two Greeks and one of Albanian origin, are now out of prison. The process of removing the temporary detention started about ten days ago, when the first 40 defendants’ applications were accepted.

There had been additional pleas by the defendants as the case was re-charged for the offense of affray resulting in death as well as separate acts of the offense of damage to foreign property.

At the same time, according to a press release by the lawyer of one of the Greek defendants, Alexis Kouya: “Finally, by the will of the Criminal Court, “PAE AEK” was expelled from the procedural position of the supporter of the prosecution in the case of the late Michalis Katsouri, but even for the damages, which were caused in the OPAP Arena stadium and the shops housed there”.

On the occasion of the decision to expel AEK, the advocate states that he will file lawsuits against specific media that “mock the scientific opinions of me and my colleagues, arguing that AEK’s lawyer correctly stated a statement of support for the charge in favor of PAE AEK, while my view was that this request was unacceptable.”
