The Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia (PEDCM) expresses its “sadness” and “deep emotion” for the loss of the “great and beloved folk singer Vassilis Karras”, stressing that “one of the most authentic popular voices has been silenced forever”.

The Board of Directors of PEDCM expresses its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, noting that “Thessaloniki bids farewell to a genuine Macedonian, a folk bard who sang for ordinary, everyday people, glorifying love, sorrow and joy.”

In his statement, the president of PEDKM, Mayor of Pylaia-Hortiatis, Ignatios Kaitezidis, emphasizes:

“Vassilis Karras was the special, distinctive hoarse voice that was loved by few. A genuine, popular voice that was always behind love, joy, sadness, behind every emotional defeat or victory.”

“He was the king of the night who knew how to entertain the world by creating unique emotions in those who listened to him.”

“He is no longer with us, but he will remain forever in the hearts of his fans.
