An emergency plan is being implemented to deal with the problem prevailing in Thessaloniki in the field of cleanliness. This was decided in the context of a meeting held at noon in the city’s town hall, with the participation of the new mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, vice-mayors, authorized officers and officials.

It was decided to implement an emergency clean-up plan as well as a special plan for bulky items thrown on the streets. At the same time, it was said that fines will be imposed on those who proceed with renovations by dumping waste materials on the sidewalks and that at large events, such as Christmas, New Year’s, Tsiknopepti, etc., the organizers will undertake the obligation to clean the spaces after the outdoor events party.
The plans of the new administration also include the increase of the recycling rate, as well as the activation of all available personnel and means in order to be able to improve the image of Thessaloniki.
