The new members of the Metropolitan Committee of Thessaloniki were elected today, at a special meeting of the regional councilors who have been elected to the Metropolitan Unit of Thessaloniki, which took place in the new hall of the Regional Council of Central Macedonia, in the area of ​​Sfageia.

Regular members of the Metropolitan Committee were elected by the “Solidarity” faction of the Regional Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas: Dionios Avramidis, Theodoros Angelidis, Konstantinos Anestidis, Olia Vassilakis – Karozis,

Giorgos Trellopoulos and Spyros Gougousis were elected from the main opposition faction “Actions for Macedonia” of Christos Papastergiou, from “Laiki Sispirosis” the leader Sotiris Avramopoulos and Konstantinos Intzes, from “Change in the Central Macedonia Region” of Yiannis Mylopoulos Dimitra Thoma was elected, while Vassilis Rokos, the head of the “SYN-ergasia” faction, was also elected.

In his introductory statement, the regional governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, characterized the Metropolitan Committee as “the most important body”, saying that it decides on all major and critical issues concerning the 14 municipalities of the urban complex of Thessaloniki.

“And this is also a big bet of the metropolis, which as the administration of the region of Central Macedonia we are trying to win”, emphasized Mr. Tzitzikostas. He also underlined that “the request is for the metropolitan areas to be upgraded even more and mainly in the field of responsibilities”, stressing that we will “pursue this with the contacts we will have with the government, in order to claim that they have more decisive responsibilities”.
