The 4-year-old from Thassos who died in the intensive care unit of the Hippocrates Hospital of Thessaloniki tested positive for streptococcussaid the president of POEDIN, Michalis Giannakos

In particular, Mr. Giannakos in his statements to MEGA said that his colleagues told him that the child was positive for streptococcus and added that “in many cases pediatricians say to wait two to three days. Other times this is dangerous. Our advice is that they should visit the doctor immediately and have the doctor make an assessment and not make the diagnosis over the phone.”

The 4-year-old boy from Thassos breathed his last this morning at Hippocrates Hospital of Thessaloniki where he had been transferred from the Kavala hospital intubated due to a respiratory infection.

The boy was taken by his parents with a feverish respiratory infection to the Prinos health center in Thassos on Epiphany day after a visit to the family’s pediatrician, while he was then treated at the health center and early in the morning transferred to the Kavala hospital where his respiratory function deteriorated and he was intubated.

According to information, he did not have any underlying diseases.
