RSV test positive (Sinusitis virus) and streptococcus the 4-year-old who died this morning at Hippocrates Hospital was found, according to the announcement issued by the Hospital.

“A 4.5-year-old male was taken by his relatives to the Prinos health center during the evening hours of January 6 with a clinical picture of febrile bronchiolitis, where he was initially treated. Due to the deterioration of the clinical picture, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the General Hospital of Kavala. Due to further deterioration of the general condition with persistence of fever, respiratory distress and accompanying hemodynamic instability, it was decided to intubate the patient and transfer him for further support to the Children’s ICU of G.N.Th Hippocrates. The patient was admitted on January 7 in the afternoon in a very serious general condition. Despite the efforts of the medical and nursing staff and maximum respiratory and other support, he died early today.
From a special microbiological examination of the bronchial secretions, carried out at G.N.Th. Hippocrates, a positive result was obtained for RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) as well as for streptococcus pyogenes.
