To stage a “fake robbery” at the expense of the 41-year-old pregnant womanso that they immobilize her and then go to her parental home from where they would take away savings of 7-8,000 euros from her parents foresaw the plan that the 39-year-old partner of the murdered woman had allegedly appeared, in order to convince his 34-year-old friend to commit the crime in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, the investigation of which was announced by EL.AS.

This version was invoked, according to information, by the 34-year-old, who came spontaneously, yesterday afternoon, to the Kalamaria Security Department, where he confessed to the police about his involvement in the casebut not the murder of the woman, while indicating the point of disposal of her body.

According to his words, he himself agreed to direct the robberyas he would get a share of the money, which he needed because of his financial difficulty.

Describing in detail the plan that his friend allegedly created and carried out, the 34-year-old – according to the same information – testified that around 11 on New Year’s Eve, when the 39-year-old and his partner returned to the former’s house, he was already inside the apartment, with the lights off and the shutters down.

“She’s dead”

The 34-year-old, as he seems to have testified, moved towards the womanwho he threatened with a knife, leading her into the bedroom where he handcuffed her and covered her mouth and eyes with packing tape.

Then—always according to what he claimed— the 39-year-old took the knife from him and gestured for him to get into his car.

“Ten minutes later he came down and asked me for help saying his partner was dead” the 34-year-old allegedly told the police, pointing out that he found the woman in a pool of blood.

From then on, the two men attempted to eliminate the traces of the unfortunate pregnant woman. According to what became known, they placed her lifeless body in a suitcase, a trunk type, and transported it with the 34-year-old’s car, four kilometers east of Monopigados, to the municipal unit of Vasilikon, in the municipality of Thermi, where they dumped it in bushes.

Their movements in front of an apartment building, as well as the course of the vehicle, were recorded by security cameras, the footage of which was examined by the authorities.

The bloody mattress and the partner’s fabricated alibi

Shortly after the crime, around midnight (around January 2), the two men threw items into adjacent trash cans, including a mattresson which a few 24 hours later, police officers who took over the investigations into the disappearance of the 41-year-old, found traces of blood that were identified in the laboratory with genetic material of the relatives of the murdered woman.

The intense movement outside the apartment building, with the discarding of various objects, the transport of the suitcase – trunk-type, combined with the mattress and the genetic material of the pregnant woman, seem to have turned the police investigations towards the 39-year-old. His friend (marked for other acts) entered the “frame” of the investigations, when his prints were found in various parts of the apartmentwhich the police made “leaf and feather”, looking for evidence in the case.

Under oath by police officers, the 39-year-old declared ignorance about the fate of his partner. Information states that he testified that on New Year’s Eve they slept together and the next morning his 41-year-old pregnant partner left with an unknown destination, allegedly taking money from their joint savings.

At the same time, in order to divert police investigations he allegedly sent two messages from the 41-year-old’s cell phone – one to the woman’s mother and one to himself. She wrote to her mother not to wait for her to go home as she would go straight to work, while to him – among other things – he referred to a “lie” he told his employer (he worked in a restaurant kitchen, from where he was fired on New Year’s Day) allegedly to stay with his partner. However, the mother of the unfortunate woman had doubts about the true identity of the sender of the particular message, which she reported to the police when she reported her daughter missing on January 2.

The forensic findings

On gross examination of the body, the medical examiner found multiple laceration and cutting wounds from the right mid-cervical region to the cervical spine and a wound in the left mid-cervical region. The findings of the autopsy, as well as the toxicology tests, are expected to be included in the case file against the partner and his friend, with which they will be taken to the Prosecutor’s Office. The case file accuses them of the acts of manslaughter with complicity, termination of pregnancy, robbery with complicity (they are accused of taking 80 euros that the woman had on her) and illegal carrying of weapons – use of weapons.

The unfortunate womanmother of a 13-year-old girl from a previous marriage, she had been in a relationship with the 39-year-old for three years, in whose apartment she occasionally stayed. She was in the 7th week of her pregnancy, which – according to information – she intended to terminate with the consent of her accused partner and had even scheduled a related operation for 3/1.

The 39-year-old and the 34-year-old will be brought before the prosecutor tomorrow.
