The prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adeline ordered the director of the Athens Primary Prosecutor’s Office Antonis Eleftheriano to conduct a criminal preliminary investigation regarding publications of the printed and electronic presswhich refer to a law firm that advertises “‘slave market’ with cheap migrant workers” and “MODERN SLAVE MARKET”.

In particular, Ms. Adeline’s order is as follows:

“On the occasion of publications in the electronic press (902.gr) and the printed press (RIZOSPASTIS), with the titles “Law Firm advertises a “slave market” with cheap immigrant workers” and “CONTENT SLAVE MARKET” respectively, please investigate the related complaint of the Athens builders’ unionto verify any ex officio prosecuted criminal acts”.

According to the disputed reports, “modern construction slave marketer tries to start law firm!” which continue:

“Specifically the law firm… on its website assures that it can secure immigrants at a bargain pricewith all the necessary supporting documents for their stay here and to work legally”.

Characteristically, the title of the ad – according to the reports – states: “The solution to high wage costs: Immigrant workers” and below: “If you want to hire cheap labor then the solution is here!”.

According to the Athens Builders Union, the law firm sent a related email with its advertisement “to a construction company operating in Elliniko”while in his statement he states, that “they advertise their business shamelessly on the internet citing the need of employers in the sector not just for labor but for greater profits as they themselves expect from this work”.
