The 50-year-old who was arrested today in Messolonghi requested and received a deadline to apologize on Monday, January 22for case of the disappearance of a 31-year-old man, in execution of a warrant issued by the investigator of Messolonghi, on the charge of manslaughter. It is about the 50-year-old butcher, the last person who allegedly met with the 31-year-old.

The 50-year-old was taken under strict security measures by the Police Department of Aetolia to the courthouse of Messolonghi, while relatives and friends of the 31-year-old, who had gathered outside the Police building, were demanding to know where the 31-year-old is.

The accused will remain in police custody until his pleawhile still denying his involvement with the case.

In statements made by the 31-year-old’s sister shortly before the 50-year-old was taken to the investigator, he said, among other things, that “the arrest of the 50-year-old is a vindication, because it finally turned out that he was involved in the disappearance of my brotherbut as I always say, our main concern is to see where my brother is”. He also mentioned that “The 50-year-old has not spoken so far and we don’t know if he ever will, so him going to jail means nothing to us, unless my brother is found.” At another point in her statements, the 31-year-old’s sister said that “since the Court ruled that the 50-year-old was involved in the disappearance of my brother, they have seen something” and added: “Let him say where my brother is. Why would he keep it a secret?, while there is already an accusation against him”. Even the 31-year-old’s sister did not rule out the possibility, “that another person is involved in the case”.

According to information, the case filed against the 50-year-old and the subsequent arrest warrant was based on the defendant’s contradictions during the depositions that he gave to the Police, regarding his movements on the night of January 4, when the 31-year-old disappeared, after their meeting.

Alongside, the police officers investigating the case have collected data both from cameras operating in the wider area of ​​the former TEI of Messolonghi, as well as from mobile phoneswhile the financial transactions that the 31-year-old had with the 50-year-old are also being examined.
