On Sunday, January 21, 2024, the 1st International three-day Zeibekikou Festival in Athens, which took place at the DAIS Sports Center in Maroussi, ended in Athens.

More than 150 contestants, friends of zeibeki and Greek culture, from Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania gathered in Athens to compete, learn about zeibeki and have fun… Greek!

On the first day – Friday 19/1- of the Festival, in a Greek night with live music, Demosthenes Athanasiou, in a show of soul, slept zeibekiko while in a wheelchair.

However, the health problem he is facing has never stopped him from moving forward with his life, winning one victory after another in the arena of life.

In the competitive part, the first place and the Gold medal was won by Nikos Kotias from Platanoreuma, Kozani, who awarded the scholarship to the second winner of the category, a child of only 8 years old with a unique talent and love for zeibeki.

Little Andreas Anagnostopoulos deservedly won the 2nd place and the impressions.

The 3rd place in the competition was won by the Cypriot Marios Kontopoulos in the Solo Open to the world Zeimpekiko category.

The curtain has fallen on the 1st International Zeibeki Dance Festival with participants and organizers making appointments for the 2nd International Festival to be held on 17-19 January 2025.
