Two men, who used to keep car garages in western Thessaloniki, are accused of fraud under the pretext of buying and clearing imported cars from Bulgaria. They are a 48-year-old and a 47-year-old, against whom a case file was filed by the Property Rights Protection Department of the Thessaloniki Security.
It was preceded by two complaints concerning fraud totaling 65,500 euros. The first one was made by a man, 51 years old, who reported that he handed over 25,000 euros to the “madders” for the purchase and customs clearance of two cars from the neighboring country, vehicles which were shown to him in photographs but which he never received.
The second case involved a 40-year-old dealer, who complained that the owners of the paddock presented themselves as creditable businessmen with many connections to car dealers in Bulgaria, and persuaded him to work with them to cover the purchase, customs clearance and possible damages that they would present the vehicles they would import. According to the complaint, he was supposed to receive a portion of the sales of the cars.
“As part of their partnership, they never paid him the sums of money from the sale of cars, as well as from the sale of a vehicle owned by him and from the alleged purchase of four vehicles on behalf of the 40-year-old’s company, as a result of which they cheated him and ripped him off in total the sum of 40,500 euros” as stated in a Police announcement.
The case file will be submitted to the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office.
