In the spontaneous arrest of two people who possessed and trafficked a large number of contraband tobacco products, police officers of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team (OPKE) of the Attica Security Directorate proceeded after an operation that took place yesterday (01-29-2024) morning in the area of ​​Korydallos.
A case file was filed against them by the Public Security Department of the Security Sub-Directorate of Athens, for possession and illegal trafficking of tobacco products which did not have the indicative tax label in violation of the National Customs Code.
An appropriate evaluation of information was conducted, from the utilization of which it emerged that the defendants own a house in the Korydallos area, which they use as a place to store contraband tobacco products, which they illegally traffic in the center of Athens.
In this context, police officers of the group O.P.K.E.they were spotted leaving the house and getting into a vehicle, having in their possession three boxes of contraband cigarettes.
From the searches carried out in the vehicle and the house, a total of -29,368- packs of cigarettes, of various brands and -14- packs of tobacco, which did not have the indicative tax label, were found and confiscated.
The arrested will be taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
