Tragedy at dawn in Holy Monastery of Agios Nikolaos in Ypsilantis Aliartos of Boeotia. THE elder of the monastery she was found charred, while her sister was found next to her in the same place, apparently dead from fumes.

The two women had not shown signs of life in the last two days. According to tvstar.gr, believers who visit her alone became worried as the abbess did not answer their persistent phone calls.

They then informed the mayor of Aliartou Thespion George Arapitsa about their concern who, accompanied by police officers, managed to approach the monastery which is located at an altitude of 700 meters. The doors were locked and they had to call a technician to be able to get inside the monastery.

Unfortunately authorities and believers found themselves in front of the hideous sight. The 77-year-old abbess and her terminally ill younger sister were found dead in the room and around the stove.

In the last days the monastery was blocked due to the snow. The same sources state that a city protection team has been informed to pick up the piles.

Preliminary investigation conducted by the AT Aliartou.
