Next week it is expected to start the cycle of deposits of ERGOSE executives to the appellate investigator investigating the case of the Tempe accident.

We remind that on Monday, the Larissa Appeals Prosecutor’s Office brought criminal proceedings against 15 executives of the organization who are charged with the crime of disrupting the safety of transportation by acts, acts and omissions and for the misdemeanors of manslaughter, grievous bodily harm and slight bodily harm by serial negligence.

It’s about executives of the period 2016-2023 in the upper echelons of ERGOSE – presidents, managing directors – but also members of the board of directors, who are being audited for their role regarding the non-implementation of the contract for the restoration of the Signaling – Remote Control System of the Athens – Thessaloniki – Promachona railway section. The 717 contract as it is known today.

The implementation of this contract originally signed in 2014 with an implementation horizon of 2016, would mean the operation of the Remote Control system at the Larissa railway station but also the operation of the light signals on the railway axis. The latter is particularly important as it would also enable the operation of the ETCS system which practically means that a train stops automatically if a violation is detected in the railway network.

Security systems in this case that on the night of the tragedy as certified by the opinion of the judicial experts and also by the opinion of the Government’s Committee of Expertswere not working with the result that, after the wrong handling of the station master, 57 people lost their lives.
