Research on the financial management of the donations of the social kitchen “The Other Person” by its founder Kostas Polychronopoulos, was ordered by the Athens Prosecutor’s Office following the conclusion of the Money Laundering Authority led by the honorary deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court Charalambos Vourliotis, which charges him with laundering and illegal management of at least 600 thousand euros, as well as criminal organization.

The head of the Athens Primary Prosecutor’s Office Antonis Eleftherianos ordered a preliminary investigation which will also be carried out with the assistance of the Greek Police, in order to investigate the first findings from the Authority’s investigation into the laundering and in particular, that Polychronopoulos, in order to strengthen the project of the social kitchen, which indeed had a significant social contribution, had proceeded to opening four accounts through social networks, two in the name of his mother and two of his son-in-law.

In these accounts over a period of two years, it appears that about one million euros, however, Polychronopoulos himself, as emerged from the Authority’s investigations, subsequently had individual accounts where he channeled large sums of money from people’s donations and developed activity in betting companies.

There, it has emerged thatabout 600 thousand euros have been spent, while the control continues for the remaining 400 thousand euros.
The offenses for which the prosecutor’s office will be investigated are money laundering for Polychronopoulos himselfcomplicity in this offense with controlled persons his mother and his son-in-law as well as for criminal organization while it is not excluded that there may be other offenses along the way.
