An autopsy on the works of the Athens Railway Station was carried out yesterday by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for infrastructure, Nikos Tahiaos.

The Deputy Minister, accompanied by the managing director of ERGOSE, Christos Palios, visited the project “Construction of a quadruple railway corridor in the section Exit S.S. Athens (S.S.A.) – Three Bridges with undergrounding in the area of ​​Sepolia” and performed an autopsy on the construction sites and on individual parts of the project. He was informed by relevant officials of ERGOSE and the construction company about its progress and discussed with them the problems they have to face for its completion.

Currently, the project is in full swing with a overall progress of 40%, while parallel excavations are being carried out due to the archaeological finds, as well as other technical actions for the relocation of networks of Public Benefit Organizations.

After the autopsy, Mr. Tachiaos said “This is a very important project for Athens, which will upgrade everyday life in its center, but also in the suburbs. It will add additional lines to the existing rail network, improving the experience of its users, and at the same time, decongest the road network. In addition, areas of regeneration and greenery will be created, which the capital is so in need of. In the coming weeks, in consultation with ERGOSE, all the necessary initiatives will be taken to speed up all the actions that will lead to the delivery of the project as soon as possible”.

Then, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure ethe construction site of the second phase of construction, infrastructure and electrification works was visited at the Athens Railway Station, which are implemented in the context of the development and improvement of the suburban railway network. Among the works of the project, the readjustment of the grammar is foreseen, as well as the reconstruction of docks and pedestrian crossings, while after its delivery, the completion of the traffic arrangements in the wider area of ​​the Athens Highway will proceed, with the construction of additional technical works that will further improve vehicular traffic in the area.
