Arrested, by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, in the context of the raid, a police officer, serving in the Attica Service, as well as -2- private individualsfor drug trafficking and supply.

A case file was filed against them for – as the case may be – violations of the legislation on addictive substances, weapons and amateur-professional sports, manufacturing and possession of explosives, as well as for breach of duty, violence against officials and judicial persons, practicing a profession despite his position as police officer and false statement.

The case file still includes -4- peoplefor violation of the legislation on addictive substances, the elements of which have been identified but not arrested as the conditions of the automatic procedure were not met.

There was a complaint, according to which a police officer is active in drug trafficking and extortion, a fact about which the supervising prosecutor’s authority was informed and a preliminary examination was ordered.

How was he acting?

From the combined study, evaluation and analysis of the pre-investigative material and after using special investigative techniques, it emerged that the a police officer was supplying narcotics, both for his own use and for other people, from another arrested person – a private personwhile at the same time communicating with the “supplier” to transport “orders” on behalf of others.

At the same time, it was established that, at least from July 2023 and while on sick leave and stripped of his service weapon, he provided paid security and guarding services to the other arrested – a private individual, who owns an accounting office.

Furthermore, it emerged that on at least two occasions, acting on behalf of the above owner of the accounting office, demanded from other persons the payment of sums due.

In the context of a coordinated operation carried out in the early hours of yesterday, Thursday, February 8, 2024, the police officer was found entering the accounting office and illegally possessing a pistol and a magazine with -15- cartridges, -925- euros and a mobile phone.

What did the investigations find?

In searches carried out in the homes of the arrested, additional items were found and confiscated:

  • pistol and magazine with -6- cartridges,
  • -31- cartridges of various calibers,
  • improvised package with a gross weight of 122 grams with an unknown substance, possibly an explosive,
  • military firing mechanism, after firing capsule,
  • calyx,
  • -2- magazines (military rifle and handgun),
  • weapon mount attachment and hidden blade attachment,
  • -2- knives (military type in a sheath and in a neck sheath),
  • knife,
  • grater,
  • -2- glass containers with an unknown substance in the form of a white powder, possibly anabolic,
  • -3- mobile phones,
  • -2-precision scales,
  • -6,350- euros,
  • -2.8- grams of cocaine and
  • homemade twisted cannabis cigarette, total gross weight -1.6- grams.

It is noted that during the investigation at his home, the police officer attacked and violently pushed back a police officer of the above Service, while the arrested supplier of narcotic substances stated false residence information in order to frustrate the investigation.

Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
