The need for positioning special mail control systems in the courts they requested in a joint statement from the competent authorities the Supreme Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court on the occasion of sending an explosive package to the courts of Thessaloniki.

In a joint statement signed by the press representative of the Supreme Court, Areopagitis Pan. Lymberopoulos and the deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court Kon. Tzavelas emphasizes the concern about the targeting of judicial officers and states that judges and prosecutors are not deterred by such attacks and remain committed to the exercise of their duties.

The announcement in detail.

“On the occasion of the sending of an explosive package – a letter, to the President of Appeals of Thessaloniki, which, by good luck, was noticed in time and neutralized, before it was opened and exploded, with the consequent unforeseen consequences,
WE EXPRESS our deep regret, but also our strong reflection on the targeting, once again, of Judicial Officers, who carry out the work of implementing the laws,
WE HIGHLIGHT the need to install and operate electronic incoming mail control systems in every judicial branch of the Country to detect potentially dangerous content, in order to ensure the safety and unhindered access to judicial services of citizens, judicial and prosecutorial officers, lawyers and judges employees, and
WE DECLARE that we remain faithful to the exercise of our duty, under any conditions and risks”.
