Announcement about the massacre at its offices in Glyfada and the company’s and its relations owner with the Egyptian perpetrator of the murder of three people issued by the shipping company.

As typically stated, “never did the company or Maria Karnesi grant the murderer a house to live in Glyfada”while characterizing the perpetrator as a “common murderer”.

In more detail, shipping company announcement:

“With indescribable pain yesterday, February 12, 2024, our company and all our executives experienced an unimaginable tragedyin which a common murderer, with absolutely no motive known to us, executed Maria Karnesi, Antonis Vlassakisowners and bosses of our company, as well as the heroic Captain Ilias Koukoularisour valuable and loyal partner for decades, while Despina Karnesi Vlassaki, owner of our company, escaped with her life by sheer luck.

This act is completely immoral and criminal, is not only abhorrent but there is no way it can be justified by anyone. However, since, despite the tragic moments, various stories are heard, which have not the slightest relation to reality, we must clarify the following:

The murderer’s employment contract with our company was terminated on 31.3.2023, i.e. almost a year ago and he had received the amount of 74,862 euros as compensation. Since then this man has not employed either our company or Antonis Vlassakis, Despina Karnesi and Maria Karnesi and as far as we know he provided his services as a caretaker at the estate of another member of the Karnesi family in Petalios, with whom the murdered men and Despina Karnesi are Petalios. they had no relation whatsoever.

The company or Maria Karnesi had never given in to the killer some house to live in Glyfada, and I believe that when the house mentioned on Tsitsani Street no. 16 does not belong either to the deceased or to the company so that it is possible that Maria Karnesi told him to vacate it. Besides, as we well know the killer had no financial need since he had bank accounts with particularly large cash reserves. Therefore, how and why the murderer decided to carry out this criminal act is not known to us and is being investigated.

We want to assure our employees both on land and on the ships managed by our company that our companyunder the guidance of Ms. Despina Karnesis, will survive even after this nightmarish tragedy and continue its operation, achieving in the future the same brilliant results as in the past.

We ask everyone to respect the memory of Captain Ilias Koukoularisas well as Maria Karnesi and Antonis Vlassakis who finally –literally and not only figuratively they gave their lives for our company and our shipping group. That everyone should also respect the pain of Despina who in an instant he lost everything to a cold and unrepentant killer. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Captain Ilias, Maria and Mrs. Despina and their relatives.”
